Roller is highly recommended for install August 24, 2007 Carl Kriesant (Orange County, CA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
The dynamat roller made installing my dynamat xtreme much easier. You can even use the handle of the roller to push the material into crevacises and really smooth out pieces along edges. I probably used the handle more on the doors than the roller itself. The roller is a nice soft rubber, so it really adapts to the surface and applies good pressure to the dynamat.
I recommend wearing some sort of gloves though with this tool. After 12 straight hours of installation, my fingers had some pretty painful blisters. The wooden roller probably works well too, but I had a lot of surface contours on my car, so I choose the softer roller.
Must have. June 4, 2008 J. Cookson (Michigan) Would definitely recommend this for installing Dynamat. Worked great, not sure what else someone would use to apply the Dynamat to a cars sheet metal. With all the ridges and curves, definitely need to use a lot of pressure to form the Dynamat and get it to stick.
Definitely worth the extra money July 21, 2008 Dane Shepherd (Gulf Coast, Florida) Soundproofing material only works when it is able to dampen the resonances and vibrations which allow noise to penetrate into your enviromnent. This rubber roller flexes and molds better to force the sound-deadening material into direct contact with the texture and contour of your project. I used this in conjunction with a heat-gun to really press the Dynamat into every nook and cranny. My car sounds like a totally different vehicle now. Definitely does a better job than a wood roller, and saves you infinite blisters by trying to press by hand. I did a whole vehicle (floor, firewall, headliner, engine compartment, fender walls, trunk, and tailgate) and this shows no signs of wear. It is certainly constructed well enough for numerous jobs.
Decent tool for the money December 22, 2008 OtherHand (SoCal) Rolls nicely and has held up to ongoing use. In addition to Dynamat material, it can be used for rolling other things, like laminates. It doesn't have real bearings, but so far that doesn't seem necessary. I think this is a better buy than the cheaper one.
Much Needed tool April 27, 2009 Travis Moore (Phoenix, AZ) I used it when I installed Dynamat Extreme. It made the job a breeze. It rolls smooth, and gets out all the bubbles. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.
