5 out of 5 stars Good product, but online description needs details   July 20, 2008

The bar does exactly what it is intended for. However, on the packaging of the bar it specifically says the distance from the seat post to handle bar post needs to be at least 18 inches, no where does it say that on the online write up. So, it doesn't work for my daughters' bikes. Something to be aware of.

5 out of 5 stars Robust and functional   May 2, 2008

This bar is very stout and capable of staying in place. I use it to mount two expensive Treks and feel confident the bikes will stay in place at 70mph on highway. When I picked up my new Treks, the service tech commented on the quality of the bar and asked who makes it, where I got it etc...he was impresssed of it's quality. The rubber end coatings interface well and won't harm bikes' finishes. Both my treks have different frame configurations, the bar adjusted easily.

5 out of 5 stars Allen Tension Bar Bicycle Cross-Bar Adaptor   July 7, 2007

This adaptor is easy to use and worked well to keep the bike level. It also is made well because we were rear-ended with our bikes on the back of our car. The bikes were all bent up but the bar was perfectly OK. We saved the bar and had to trash the bikes.

5 out of 5 stars Great solution!   July 10, 2009

This is the one you want. For about $20, you can attach a woman's, child's, or youth's bike onto a standard hitchmount bike rack - and effectively place it on the rack as if it were a men's bike. We just used two of these on a 3000+ mile trip. Worked flawlessly. Without these, mounting my wife's and son's bikes would have been impossible on our Yakima rack. When I needed a 3rd, I had to pick one up locally. Unfortunately, the Allen model wasn't available and I paid 50% more for another brand that works half as well.

Highest recommendation.

I purchased this bar for an intended trip. I have a GIANT hybrid and my wife a TREK hybrid. While I was a bit apprehensive it proved me wrong. Not one problem from PA to Myrtle Beach via Jacksonville NC to see our daughter and then straight back. Over 1,100 mile and this was the first time we ever took the bike anywhere!
